Functioning
without telnet access
Manic Design does not provide telnet, or shell, access to customers. This
policy provides maximum security for all Manic customers. Our accounts include
innovative tools which assist you in developing and maintaining your website
without the need for telnet access.
Chmod
Users can change the permissions
on files (chmod) by using Webby, Manic's online
file manager. Users can also use popular FTP clients
to do so.
File management
Users can edit and manage files
online with Webby, eliminating the need to
publish or upload after each small change.
Debugging scripts
Manic's CGI
system supports an easy-to-use debug mode, which allows you to see
past generic "Internal Server Errors" into the actual script execution.
In many cases, this debug mode makes finding and correcting bugs easier
than telnet access does!
Database management
Manic's SQL
executer and table lister provide users with web access to their MySQL
database. You can find both of these on your Account Control Panel.
